Spring Allergies Have Arrived

February 29, 2020Blog

The colors are changing and Spring is in the air. This means that pollen is coming and with great force. Are you ready to take on Spring allergies?

Forecasts are saying there is above normal rainfall this year which means if you are one that typically suffers from allergies. It is time to get prepared. Mid-March is typically when you will start to feel the itchy eyes and runny nose. This time of year is the perfect environment for pollen to grow and thrive. This is not only an early allergy season, but it will also be a long one.

The first bit of pollen that we should expect to see is the tree pollen. It will be followed by grass pollen. Then the weed pollen will arrive. The pollen usually starts in the south and makes it’s way to the north. This is why Texas is notoriously bad during allergy season. Light rains typically tamper the pollen down, but the heavier rains tend to stir things up which creates the perfect environment for molds to thrive.

It is recommended that if you do feel the symptoms and discomforts of spring allergies, you should definitely schedule an appointment. We can get you set up with skin tests to determine what you are allergic to, and can help you determine if you need shots, drops, or immunotherapy to help with your symptoms.
