January 31, 2020Blog

vaping bad for you

Vaping Causes EVALI

Significant progress has been made by the CDC, FDA, and state health authorities in identifying the cause of EVALI. EVALI stands for e-cigarette or vaping product use-associated lung injury. As of January 21, 2020, there have been a total of 2,711 hospitalizations and/or deaths from EVALI cases in the United States of America. 60 deaths have been confirmed in over 25 states, so yes it is very bad for you.

Decline in EVALI Cases

On a positive note, the numbers EVALI cases have been declining since they hit the peak back in August 2019. The reason for the decline is due to multiple reasons including:

  • Public Awareness of the risk of THC containing e-cigarette, or vaping, product use.
  • The removeal of Vitamin E acetate from many of the products
  • Law enforcement is taking action against certain illicit products

Can Vaping Cause Asthma?

Asthma is known to be caused by several factors. These factors include: the environment, genetics, allergies, tobacco smoke, and respiratory infections. This means that vaping alone may not be the solely responsible for causing asthma. That being said, multiple studies have confirmed that vaping can make symptoms much worse in a significant way for people with asthma.

In Conclusion…

Vaping is indeed bad for you, this is very clear. Is it worse that smoking cigarettes? It is still too early to know. We have decades of evidence of the effects of smoking tobacco related products. Vaping and e-cigarettes are still in the early stages, but the early studies have made it pretty obvious that is is by no means good for you.
